Steel that has gone through the annealing process is tempered – meaning it’s rolled one last time through a single-stand mill with a one to three percent elongation. Tempering is necessary for crown reduction to provide the proper surface finish, and improve the mechanical properties to meet the customer’s specifications.
Cold-rolled steel is used in applications such as appliances; tubing; motor lamination; building panels; stampings and shelving.
